1: to ignore someone by playing music really loudly, while they are talking, to cover up the sound of their voice. best when used during nagging sessions by parents, significant others, or just to ignore some annoying schmo.

  * e.g.,  ... On facebook someone may msg you asking "why yu tune out,?" well now you'll now to reply with "bish text me."

1: The act of completely ignoring someone in order to watch a nickelodeon program.

  * e.g.,  ... Man 1: I was wondering if you could take out the trash. Boy 2: Shhh!!! Spongebob is on, you are now nick-tuned out. 

 [ "Tuned Out Word" ]

1: a TOW is something like "cool" or "hmm" while somebody is telling you something, like them having a disease and they need your help to sell drugs.

  * e.g.,  ... "So then I said to her i hate her and then we divorced and my life fell apart.." "mm-hmm" "You using saying Tuned Out Words?" "cool" BANG BANG CRASH

1: When someone is blabbering on and on about something you don't give a shit about, and out of pure disrespect, you put an airpod in your ear to tune out and ignore their constant yapping

1: when an individual resorts to putting in his/her headphones and connecting to their musical device manufactured by Apple (i.e iPod, iPod nano, iPod mini) when a conversation is boring.

  * e.g.,  ...  Person 1: "He would rather listen to the Ying Yang twins then listen to me." 

 [ "turn on, tune in, drop out" ]

1: A term coined by Timothy Leary to describe the psychedelic experience. Leary explains it in his book Flashbacks as such “Turn on’ meant go within to activate your neural and genetic equipment. Become sensitive to the many and various levels of consciousness and the specific triggers that engage them. Drugs were one way to accomplish this end. ‘Tune in’ meant interact harmoniously with the world around you – externalize, materialize, express your new internal perspectives. Drop out suggested an elective, selective, graceful process of detachment from involuntary or unconscious commitments. ‘Drop Out’ meant self-reliance, a discovery of one’s singularity, a commitment to mobility, choice, and change. Unhappily my explanations of this sequence of personal development were often misinterpreted to mean ‘Get stoned and abandon all constructive activity.”

 [ "Tune in but Tune out" ]

1: Phrase: When you, someone else, or even a group of people listen to a conversation (most often it's an argument or fight) between others to get all the juicy details, but don't want those who are having the conversation to know that you're listening to them, tell your fellow listeners to do this. Its primary use is to prevent getting yourself or others involved in the confrontation, and allows you to listen for the details.

  * e.g.,  ... Guy 1: Hey, the boss and the new guy are having an argument! Sounds like he won't be here much longer! Guy 2: Tune in but Tune out, man! Get the details but don't get involved!
